Blind Mode

Blind mode lets you program in the background without affecting what's happening on stage. While blind mode is active, the programmer runs invisibly โ€” fixtures continue to output their current live state, and your edits are kept separate until you decide to apply them.

When to use blind mode#

  • Building the next cue while the current show is running
  • Testing looks before committing them to the show
  • Editing presets without disturbing the live output
  • Programming during rehearsal while a set is lit for blocking

Enabling and disabling blind mode#

blind on -- enter blind modeblind off -- exit blind mode (programmer changes are NOT applied)

The status bar in the GUI shows a BLIND indicator when blind mode is active.

Applying blind changes#

When you're done programming and want to push your changes live:

blind apply -- fade blind programmer values into the live output

This crossfades between the current live state and your blind programmer values.

Discarding blind changes#

If you want to discard your blind work without applying it:

blind discard -- throw away blind programmer values

Workflow example#

  1. Show is running โ€” executor 1 is playing cue 3 live
  2. blind on โ€” enter blind mode
  3. Select fixtures, adjust colors, store new presets
  4. Preview the next cue in the blind programmer
  5. blind apply โ€” push the new look to the stage
  6. blind off โ€” exit blind mode

Notes#

  • Stores (presets, groups) made while in blind mode are saved permanently, just like normal โ€” they are not "blind"
  • Only the live attribute output is suppressed โ€” programming operations are real
  • The blind programmer has its own fade time, set with ptime
